Unexpected backward-angle enhancement in /sup 19/F+ /sup 12/C scattering

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
Backward-angle excitation functions have been measured for the /sup 12/C+ /sup 19/F elastic and inelastic scattering between E/sub c.m./ = 7.4 and 24.4 MeV. Three prominent gross structures (18.0, 20.7, and 22.1 MeV) are observed. The corresponding back-angle elastic angular distributions can each be fitted by a P/sub L/,0/sup 2/(costheta) function whose L value tracks about one unit above l/sub grazing/.
