Safety and cost information was developed for the conceptual decommissioning of a large (1175 MW(e)) pressurized water reactor (PWR) power station. Two approaches to decommissioning, Immediate Dismantlement and Safe Storage With Deferred Dismantlement, were studied to obtain comparisons between costs, occupational radiation doses, potential radiation doses, potential radiation dose to the public, and other safety impacts.
