Processing, cure reactions, network structure and mechanical properties of TGDDM/DDS epoxies

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6386419
Diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) cured tetraglycidyl 4,4' diaminodiphenyl methane (TGDDM) epoxies are the most-common composite matrices utilized in high-performance fibrous composites. Our recent studies on the characterization of these epoxies from the processing and durability viewpoints are described. The effects of DDS concentration, BF/sub 3/:NH/sub 2/C/sub 2/H/sub 5/ catalyst composition, TGDDM impurities, and prepreg mixing conditions on the processing of the composite, cure reactions, and the resultant chemical and physical structure of TGDDM-DDS epoxies are presented. 8 figures.
