High-temperature [sup 17]O and [sup 89]YthinspNMR of YBa[sub 2]Cu[sub 3]O[sub 7[minus][delta]]

We report measurements of [sup 17]O and [sup 89]Y NMR Knight shift and (T[sub 1]T)[sup [minus]1] for temperatures ranging from T[sub c] up to 700 K. The contrasting behaviors of [sup 17]O, [sup 89]Y, and [sup 63]Cu are compared with theoretical predictions based on the [open quotes]single component[close quotes] description of electronic structure. We find that while the [sup 17]O behavior is as predicted, the [sup 89]Y is quite surprising, displaying [sup 89](T[sub 1]T)[sup [minus]1]=constant behavior (within experimental precision of [plus minus]4[percent]) over the full range, despite a 13[plus minus]2[percent] drop (from 300 to 700 K) in the static susceptibility and a 14[plus minus]2[percent] drop in [sup 17](T[sub 1]T)[sup [minus]1].
