A new crystal spectrometer is proposed which allows the registration of scattered neutrons with a chosen energy transfer in a large and continuous range of scattering angles simultaneously. This is achieved by flat analyzer crystals which reflect the elastically or inelastically scattered neutrons out of the horizontal plane and a linear position sensitive or banana-like multidetector. The properties of such an instrument are discussed. Some of the calculations are compared with test measurements.
