A numerical solution has been presented for the unsteady mixed convection on a wedge which is embedded in a fluid-saturated porous medium. The flow is impulsively set into motion from rest and the temperature of the wedge is also suddenly changed from that of the ambient fluid. A second-order upwind finite-difference scheme has been used to solve the governing nonsimilar equations. The results are found to be in excellent agreement with some previously published data. Of fundamental interest in heat transfer in porous media is the convective flow from surfaces of different geometries. Applications for such systems can be found in many engineering problems such as geothermal energy extraction, pollutant dispersion in aquifers, thermal insulation engineering, and others.
