Our study of nuclear structure of neutron-rich fission products at the on-line mass separator TRISTAN has continued at a strong pace during the past year. The study of the odd-odd La nuclides, /sup 142/ /sup 144/ /sup 146/ /sup 148/La, has been concluded with the preparation of the /sup 146/La level scheme. The systematic drop in position of the lowest 1/sup +/ levels and the abrupt increase in the number of levels that are strongly fed in ..beta.. decay in /sup 146/La can be used to pinpoint the onset of strong deformation in that nuclide. Or, that spread of ..beta.. strength can be attributed to the presence of low-lying octupole structures. New data have been presented on the lower odd-odd N=83 nuclides which indicate that the Pi g/sub 7/2/nu f/sub 7/2/ parabola which is a large particle hole parabola in /sup 140/La is quenched in /sup 138/Cs and inverted in /sup 136/I. The first results of a major new study of /sup 132/Sb and /sup 130/Sb levels populated in the decay of 40-s /sup 132/Sn and 2-min and 4-min /sup 130/Sn, respectively, are reported. These data indicate a 4/sup +/ ground state for /sup 130/Sb and reveal many new negative parity levels. Angular correlation and decay scheme data are reported for decay of /sup 139/Xe to levels of /sup 139/Cs. The results support 5/2/sup +/ and 3/2/sup +/ assignments for the 218- and 289-keV levels, respectively, and reveal a close doublet at 393 keV. Except for an extra low-lying level, a nearly level-for-level correspondence is observed with isotonic /sup 141/La, which is also under study. An angular correlation study of the levels of the 2-particle-4-hole nuclide /sup 116/Cd fed in the decay of 2/sup -/ and 5/sup +/ isomers of /sup 116/Ag has resolved the location of the two lowest excited 0/sup +/ levels and disclosed over 200 new ..gamma.. rays. The possibility of intruder levels in /sup 142/Ba is also under study.
