High-temperature selective gasdynamic continuous CO/sub 2/ laser
The efficiency of gasdynamic laser with selective excitation and mixing in a supersonic flow in a continuous operational regime up to stagnation temperature of 2500 /sup 0/K and nitrogen stagnation pressures 3 x 10/sup 6/ Pa is demonstrated experimentally. Values of the gain of a signal from a probing laser at wavelength 10.6 ..mu..m are obtained for different compositions of the mixture, degrees of expansion of the nozzle, and nitrogen stagnation temperaturres. The highest gain 1.0...1.5 m/sup -1/ is attained in mixtures containing He. The use of water vapor decreases the gain by a factor of 1.5. The gain in the binary mixture N/sub 2/:CO/sub 2/ has a positive value on the order of 0.6 m/sup -1/.
