Direct decays of the isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance in /sup 28/Si

The isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance in /sup 28/Si, studied by /sup 28/Si(..cap alpha..,..cap alpha..'c) angular correlation experiments (in which the charged particle c = ..cap alpha../sub 0/, ..cap alpha../sub 1/, p/sub 0/, p/sub 1,2/), constitutes the first obvious case of a dominant direct nucleon decay of a giant quadrupole resonance.
