Principal trend in the development of slot oven coking methods

A discussion of methods for the increasing of capacity and efficiency of coke production in the USSR was presented. Much attention was given to the preheating of the coal charge. It was concluded that preheating decreased the thermal resistance of the charge and increased the oven capacity 20-40%, while conserving energy and causing a decrease in the creation of wastewater. Other methods of increasing capacity included increased coke pushing rate with the development of high-speed coke machines and wider coke ovens.
