In Quarterly Report No. 7 we presented preliminary studies of the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of dibenzofuran which indicated, surprisingly, that as much as 75% of the products are C/sub 5/-C/sub 7/ single ring compounds. We have now checked the identification of these compounds by GC/MS analysis. We also find that the oxide form of the catalyst behaves quite differently from the sulfide form, both in activity and selectivity. 10 figs., 2 tabs.
