Current conditions in the natural gas market. Hearing before the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, United States Senate, Ninety-Seventh Congress, Second Session, December 13, 1982

Complaints from natural gas consumers prompted a hearing on how Congress should respond to rising prices resulting from the Natural Gas Policy Act. At issue is the need to balance relief for consumers with any disincentives to the gas industry that could lead to increased dependence on imports. Also of concern was the possibility that funds for low-income energy assistance are depleted. The 27 witnesses making statements included members of Congress, consumer groups, and the gas industry. Two appendices with responses to committee questions and additional statements and communications submitted for the record follow the testimony. (DCK)
