Effect of thermal fluctuations on parametric instabilities in a nonuniform plasma

The effect of thermal fluctuations on the steady-state noise level amplified by a convective parametric instability is studied. A term specifying the level of thermal fluctuations is incorporated in the system of equations for the amplitudes of the waves interacting a nonuniform plasma. If the damping of the parametrically amplified wave is substantial (if the damping length is comparable to the dimensions of the resonance region), this term gives rise to significant corrections to the growth rates.
