Data on inclusive production of p..pi../sup +/ and p..pi../sup -/ pairs in the reaction p-barp..-->..p..pi..X at 22.4 GeV/c in the target-proton fragmentation region are analyzed in terms of the one-pion exchange model. It is shown that the principal characteristics of the reactions: mass distributions, distributions in the Feynman variable X, p/sup 2//sub T/, t, and also the angular distributions of decay of p..pi../sup +/ and p..pi../sup -/ pairs, are satisfactorily described by the model. The inclusive cross section calculated in the model for production of the ..delta../sup + +/ (1236) isobar is approx.1 mb and amounts to approx.50% of the experimental value of the cross section for inclusive production of the p..pi../sup +/ system in the region of the ..delta../sup + +/ (1236) isobar.
