Well logs evaluate and monitor heavy oil steamflood in Kern County, California

The Poso McVan heavy oil reservoir, located in Kern County, California, is being evaluated based on large diameter core and open and cased hole well logging suites. Comparative results for oil saturation and reservoir porosity are presented based on core analysis, resistivity, porosity, dielectric log (EPT), and carbon/oxygen log. Initial experiences with the monitoring of steamflood operations also are discussed.
