Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6371892
This third edition of the publication provides source material to legislators and their staff. Each enactment is listed in one or more of 37 subject categories. Broad categories are utilities, tax exemption, tax application, franchise protection, conservation, resource development, mineral extraction regulation, management, emergency powers, anti-trust, anti-environment, and miscellaneous legislation. Short descriptive abstracts are presented for each enactment. The 600+ bills reproduced represent the variey of ways states have approached energy problems and attempted to effect solutions. Trends show an attempt by states to promote energy supply development and to increase consumer protection. Energy conservation and incentives for development of alternative energy supplies were the areas of greatest legislative activity. Public disclosure of utility rate making procedures, product and system warranties, and public safety gained a close look by state legislatures in 1977. Volume 2 is a continuation of this publication.
