Adsorption and diffusion of C/sub 6/-C/sub 8/ hydrocarbons in ultrastable Y zeolite

The adsorption and diffusion of C/sub 6/-C/sub 8/ hydrocarbons in ultrastable Y zeolite powder was studied by use of gravimetric techniques in a constant volume, constant pressure apparatus. The order of the equilibrium adsorption capacities of the hydrocarbons at temperatures of 303-363K were determined to be toluene > n-hexane > ortho-xylene > metaxylene > para-xylene > cyclohexane. Intracrystalline diffusion coefficients of the order of 10/sup -13/ cm/sup 2//s - 10/sup -10/ cm/sup 2//s were obtained for the same temperature range.
