The IR-spectroscopic investigation of sapropels

Journal Article · · Solid Fuel Chem. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6364714
A number of features of the composition and structure of sapropels has been shown by IR spectroscopy: diversity of functional groups belonging mainly to the organic substances of the sapropels; presence of coordination bonds between the organic and mineral components and presence in the humic acids of amido-carbohydrate complexes, aliphatic chains, and more complex structures with conjugated double bonds. Conclusions have been drawn concerning the forms of existence of certain mineral elements (calcium, iron).
