Problem of reactions of the naphthalene catalytic hydropurification process

Journal Article · · Coke Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6357597

The conditions for catalytic hydropurification of naphthalene by the hydrolysis of thionaphthene (the principal desired reaction) and without the hydrolysis of naphthalene itself and also without the hydrolysis of tetraline (to which naphthalene is converted) are determined. The conditions determined require a temperature of at least 515/sup 0/C at the front of the catalyst bed and a minimized temperature gradient through the catalyst bed. The catalyst contains aluminum, cobalt and molybdenum. (LTN)
