High energy gas fracture research

The objective of high energy gas fracture (HEGF) research is to develop fracture techniques for application in gas well stimulation. This is done using propellants whose burn rates can be tailored for specific applications. Previous research successfully developed technology for multiple fracturing liquid-free, uncased wellbores and applied it to gas wells in Devonian shale. Current efforts are directed toward developing HEGF for stimulating wells which are cased and perforated, both with and without liquid present. Results are discussed. 5 refs.
