A description is presented of the new equipment installed by Sun Oil Co. to maintain a flame front in a Louisiana in-situ combustion secondary recovery project. Sun Oil Co. is adding ''fuel to the fire'' at Louisiana's second in-situ combustion secondary recovery project near Delhi, in the northern part of the state. Sun, operator of the Delhi Unit, is now injecting 1,400,000 cu ft of air daily into the May-Libby reservoir, following ignition early in 1966. A gas burner at the oil sand face, about 3,400 ft below the surface, established the underground fire, which is burning at a temperature of approximately 700$F. The burner, with its 1,000$F flame, was extinguished on Aug. 21, 1966 after injecting about 40,000,000 btu's of heat into the reservoir.
