This is a tool for running and testing an annular seal assembly with only one trip into and out of the wellhead. The body of the tool has a hollow bore or chamber with a port at its lower end, which can be closed by a plug, and a series of ports near its upper end connecting the chamber with the exterior of the body above the point of sealing of a packer within the casing-seating mandrel. The annular sealing assembly is attached to the tool by a number of spring-pressed balls which fit into sockets about the tool body. Torque pins will, upon rotation of the tubular conductor upon which the tool is connected, cause the seal ring to expand. The blowout-preventer rams can be closed and pressure fluid directed through the chamber and ports to test the seal. Reverse rotation of the tubular conductor will release the seal assembly for removal in case the seal does not withstand the test pressure. (16 claims)
