Noninvasive diagnosis of vascular disease

Book ·
OSTI ID:6352060
Each of the three main parts of this book (i.e., those focusing on the arterial, venous, and cerebrovascular systems) opens with a lucid, practical explanation of anatomy, hemodynamics, pathophysiology, and pathology - the basic background information essential to an understanding of noninvasive diagnostic methodology. Clinically pertinent explanations of the Doppler principle provide the additional information necessary to understand ultrasonic diagnostic technology. One chapter contains a brief outline of Doppler physics, for instance, another chapter offers a detailed account of Doppler physics, and another defines the physical phenomena (e.g., propagation velocity, axial resolution, lateral resolution, etc.) associated with the clinical application of Doppler technology. Each section proceeds from these essential to the important matters of selecting, applying, and interpreting the results of particular diagnostic modalities.
