The Heat Exchanger Tube Vibration Data Bank was established to accumulate comprehensive case histories on heat exchangers that have experienced tube vibration problems and on units that have been trouble free, and to render this information available for evaluation, improvement, and development of vibration prediction methods and design guidelines. Nine new case histories are presented. Tube damage was incurred in some cases by cutting at the baffles and/or failure near the tube sheets. There are examples of exchangers without vibration problems even though their designs were thought to be marginal with respect to flow-induced vibration. (LEW)
