In this paper an analysis is made of the influence of manufacture by continuous cold drawing on the interlamellar spacing of an eutectoid prestressing steel. Consideration is given to the microstructure evolution as the drawing progresses up to the final commercial product which is heavily drawn and has undergone severe straining. Thus the drawing intensity (or straining level) is treated as the key variable to elucidate the consequences of the manufacturing route. In particular, the evolution of interlamellar spacing is analyzed at each stage of the process to ascertain the effect of cumulative straining on this microstructural parameter.
