Nature of the G(1590) meson

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Nucl. Phys. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6343014
Arguments are given in favor of interpretation of the recently observed new scalar meson G(1590) as a glueball (gluonium). It is shown that this hypothesis qualitatively explains the suppression of the decay of the G into pion or kaon pairs relative to eta meson pairs. Experimental determination of the probability of the decay G..-->..eta' eta is necessary if one is to understand the nature of the G(1590) meson.
