Primer for float-type carburetors

A primer is described for a carburetor, the carburetor adapted to provide a combustible fuel/air mixture to a combustion engine and includes a carburetor body, a fuel/air mixture passage, a fuel supply bowl, and a fuel nozzle means for conducting fuel from the fuel supply bowl to the mixture passage, the primer comprising: a primer chamber in the carburetor body; an operator actuable displacing means for abruptly displacing a discrete volume of air from the chamber, the displacing means including a vent aperture for admitting air from outside into the chamber; a generally downwardly sloping surface in the chamber oriented parallel to the direction of flow of air through the vent aperture including a priming aperture; the priming aperture is located intermediate the upper and bottom surfaces of the primer chamber; a generally vertical surface in the chamber perpendicularly adjoining surface in the chamber perpendicularly adjoining the downwardly sloping surface; and a passageway extending from the priming aperture into the fuel supply bowl.
