National Medical Enterprises, Inc. (NME) installed heat recovery systems at five California hospitals on the basis of a vendor payback analysis of 1.7 years that included reduced maintenance and equipment replacement costs as well as energy savings and tax credits. Feasibility studies now underway may support using the systems in other NME hospitals. Historical data provided for Allied Energy International's Duo-Heat Model 5830 persuaded NME to accept the payback estimations. The article included some details on Allied's payback calculations.
