Title: Antiferromagnetic correlations of heavy-fermion systems studied in the Zou-Anderson model with spin-orbit coupling

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

The q-dependent magnetic susceptibility chi(q) and effective moment ..mu../sub eff/(q) of heavy-fermion quasiparticles are studied at T = 0 in the Zou-Anderson spin-orbit-coupling model for the simple cubic lattice. Antiferromagnetic (q = Q) correlations are shown to be dominantly enhanced by interband effects for relatively large quasiparticle fillings. The obtained moments ..mu../sub eff//sup 2/(0)/similar to/1.20..mu../sub B//sup 2/ and ..mu../sub eff//sup 2/(Q)/similar to/0.7..mu../sub B//sup 2/ are in good agreement with the Zou-Anderson value and the experimental value for CeAl/sub 2/, respectively, but are in disagreement with the experimental values for CeCu/sub 2/Si/sub 2/ and CeAl/sub 3/.
