Means of increasing motor octane in the FCC unit

During the past several years the refiner has been forced to increase octane of the gasoline pool in order to meet the impacts of the final EPA lead phasedown regulations, and the growth in consumption of unleaded premium gasolines. These needs were met without major capital investment by increasing severities in existing units and judiciously choosing proper catalysts to maximize octanes.
