Patent ·
OSTI ID:6336956
This patent describes an apparatus comprising: a pipe member which includes a first tubular portion and a second tubular portion, each of the portions having respective interior surfaces which together comprise the interior surface of the pipe member, wherein the first portion has a longitudinal axis and a wall with an opening therethrough, and wherein the second portion has a longitudinal axis, and open end, and a closed end axially opposite the open end with respect to the second portion longitudinal axis, and second portion being connected to the first portion wall at the open end so as to outwardly extend from the wall to the closed end and so that the open end is communication with the interior of the first portion through the opening; means for introducing a fluid into the first portion so as to establish a flow of fluid in a direction generally parallel to the first portion longitudinal axis and generally toward the second portion longitudinal axis; a plate having opposing surfaces, a first end, a second end, and apertures which open through the surfaces so that some of the apertures are positioned within the first portion whereas the remainder of the apertures are positioned within the second portion.
