Good, the bad, and the ugly: analysis of a software project
I present the achievements made on Thermal Complex Information System (The Good), the mistakes (The Bad), and the disasters (The Ugly). I make proposals to help other projects repeat our achievements and avoid our mistakes and disasters. I begin by presenting historical information about the TCIS project. This will include: the project personnel (for completeness); the reasons for replacing the CDC 1700; the user's goals for their new computer facility, the Original Design Teams goals; and a chronological development of the project. I then take a more indepth look at the different design approaches used, and I will look at the coding and testing phases. I will then discuss the achievements and problems on TCIS, and present my suggestions for future projects.
