This document discusses software issues associated with the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations. Particular methods and codes implementing the various methods have been mentioned only to illustrate specific points, e.g. the DEPAC package of ODE codes. Empahsis is placed on the concerns and decisions which are important in the design and algorithmic development of user oriented ODE software.
