Analysis of components after service in the Grand Forks Energy Technology Center slagging fixed-bed coal gasification pilot plant

The Department of Energy's Grand Forks Energy Technology Center (GFETC) in Grand Forks, ND, presently operates a slagging fixed-bed coal gasification pilot plant. Failures of a number of components of the gasifier were experienced, and the results of analyses of some of these at the Argonne National Laboratory are summarized in this article.
