The Port Pirie Study, funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council, has entered its sixth year. Of the possible 735 newborns followed since the antenatal period it is anticipated that growth/development data will be obtained through to age 7, for 600 of these children. Serial measures of blood lead, and subsequently dental lead measures will allow examination of relationships between lead burden, a range of environmental/social covariates, and developmental data. 2 references, 1 figure, 3 tables.
