Ignmon system for gasoline powered boats
A safety ignition system is described for a power boat, the boat having a hydrocarbon fueled engine within the engine room and the engine room being equipped with a blower and a vent to purge fumes therefrom, the blower being equipped with a blower switch and the engine being equipped with an ignition system including an ignition switch and a starter and a power supply connected to the ignition switch through the starter switch and to the blower switch, the safety ignition system comprising: a cold start timer switch operatively connected to the ignition switch and the blower switch, the starter switch in the on position energizing the cold start timer switch which in turn (1) energizes the blower switch for a first predetermined time period and after the first predetermined time (2) energizes the ignition switch to permit power to go to the ignition system; and a warm/hot timer switch connected to the starter switch which when the starter switch is turned to the on position after the engine has operated for a time and has been shut down the warm/hot start timer switch observing the down time and if the down time is greater than a second predetermined time the warm/hot start switch energizing the blower switch and not energizing the ignition switch until after a third predetermined time has passed sufficient to assure purging of the engine room and if the down time is less than the second predetermined time, the warm/hot start timer switch permitting energization of the ignition switch.
