Upper limit on the infrared and radio emission of clusters of galaxies

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. Lett. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6325768
Upper limits are set on the expected infrared and radio flux density due to dust in the Coma, Perseus, and Virgo clusters of galaxies. These estimates are independent of the space distribution and the size spectrum of the dust grains. At lambda/sub max/approx. =210 ..mu.. the upper limit on F/sub ..nu../ for a whole cluster should be several flux units, while at lambdaapprox. =1 mm F/sub ..nu../ should be no more than a few tenths of a flux unit -- values several orders below limits obtained previously.
