Simulating a steamflood at Georgsdorf: an adjunct to reservoir management

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6324514
Described is the use of a black-oil thermal simulator to evaluate the performance of an on-going steam flood at the Georgsdorf reservoir in the Federal Republic of Germany. An areal model was developed to represent ca 300 acres of the steam flood and the adjoining area where wells are located on irregular spacing. Ten years of historical performance, including 6 yr of steam injection, were history matched to calibrate the model. Then, the calibrated model was used to study the future depletion of the reservoir under several options. This information was used by BEB GmbH, the operator, to help make decisions about the future operation of the steam flood.
