Report on soil stabilization studies. Hanford reactor sites with reference to Ben Franklin Dam
The effects of the proposed Ben Franklin dam on selected foundations in the 100-area reactor sites of the Hanford Works are appraised. This report covers a review of plans of selected facilities to determine controlling elevations relative to present and predicted groundwater tables, and a preliminary appraisal of groundwater effects on the settlement of structures and on the containment of both liquid and solid radioactive contaminants, based on the general characteristics of the foundation soils. The purpose of this report is to identify the facilities that would be affected and to outline methods of treatment to the extent necessary to provide bases for preliminary cost estimates and for final design.
