The practice of injecting lean gas, mainly methane, into condensate reservoirs is currently being used to increase recovery. The process reduces condensation and increases liquid recovery by revaporization. However, with the increasing market for methane, this practice of delaying gas sales for long periods of time is economically impractical. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the revaporization of condensate liquids using nonhydrocarbon gases such as air, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. This study of revaporization utilizes a 100 cell compositional computer model based on the Peng-Robinson equation of state. A system was constructed using 13 hydrocarbon components and 2 nonhydrocarbon components. Calibration of the system was done using laboratory data. The model showed nonhydrocarbon gases can effectively vaporize hydrocarbon liquids with carbon dioxide being the most effective nonhydrocarbon for vaporizing heavy fractions.
