A shut-off valve which has a body containing a seat and a through passageway. A plug is attached to a stem which is spring loaded in a retracted position disposed above the valve in a housing. A severable link is connected to the end of the stem opposite the plug with an arm further extending the assembly terminating with a weight on top. The arm also contains a ball swivel within a seat. Upon receiving external vibratory oscillation, such as a seismic shock wave, the weight rotates axially about the swivel breaking the link allowing the plug attached to the stem to be extended by the spring into the valve seat blocking flow of fluid through the passageway in the valve body.
