Fluidized bed combustion (FBC) is a process in which solid particles of fuel and inert materials are suspended in a high-velocity air stream that creates a highly agitated mass resembling boiling water. Fluidization creates a turbulent mixing condition that enhances good combustion. The specific characteristics of the process are dependent on the size of the particles, bed temperature and fluidizing velocity.
