Title: LLNL machine tool services preventative maintenance program using the VAX 11-785 computer cluster

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6320178

This paper describes a new Preventative Maintenance Program recently put into effect in Materials Fabrication Division at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The purpose of this program is to minimize downtime of important machine tools and help ensure a safer working environment for employees. Close attention is also paid to cost effectiveness of prolonging the usable life of machine tools. Small overlooked problems, such as a lube failure, can be expensive, whereas over zealous preventative maintenance can needlessly use up manpower and materials.
