Results are given of experimental investigations of lasing in neon (lambda = 585.3 and 540.1 nm) and in an He--N/sub 2/ mixture (lambda = 428 nm) with hydrogen additions under transverse discharge pumping with UV preionization. It was shown that on addition of hydrogen the wavelength of the radiation in neon changes, while in the He--N/sub 2/ mixture the duration of the lasing pulse increases.
