As a result of a review, the IG concluded that the Department of Energy should insist on improved theft reporting and make a greater effort to monitor the security program at the Forrestal Building. Therefore, we are recommending that the Assistant Secretary for Defense Programs, which includes the Office of Safeguards and Security, reevaluate the security requirements for the James Forrestal Building in cooperation with GSA and institute an improved program to reduce thefts.
