Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/6316043· OSTI ID:6316043
The Colorado Sunworks solar energy system is a passive solar energy system used for both space heating and domestic hot water preheating at a single family dwelling in Longmont, Colorado. The passive space heating system is a combination drum wall and direct gain system. Heat loss through the glazing is reduced by a beadwall. The passive solar water heater system consists of two 30-gallon tanks which have been stripped of their insulation, painted black, and positioned next to the south wall. The system is described, and its performance is analyzed using a system energy balance technique. (LEW)
