Gelable compositions and use thereof in steam treatment of wells

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6314205

A method is described of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well comprising: (a) injecting a gelable composition into the well wherein the composition consists essentially of water, a water-dispersible polymer, a first water-dispersible crosslinker, and a second water-dispersible crosslinker wherein the first and second crosslinkers have differing temperature responsive crosslinking characteristics over the temperature range of about 70/sup 0/F to about 400/sup 0/F which enables crosslinking of the polymer and gelation of the composition over substantially the entire temperature range of about 70/sup 0/F to about 400/sup 0/F; and (b) injecting steam into the well.
