Bimetallic ruthenium-gold-on-magnesia catalysts chemicophysical properties and catalytic activity

Journal Article · · J. Catal.; (United States)
Catalysts containing 4-5% metal, of which 0-100% was ruthenium and the balance gold, were supported on magnesium oxide and characterized by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, extended X-ray absorption fine structure analysis, metal dispersion analyses, hydrogen and oxygen chemisorption, and oxygen transfer between labeled CO/sub 2/ and CO. The results indicated that bimetallic aggregates formed on the MgO surface and that the alloy surface was enriched with ruthenium.
