Wind electric generator

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6306445
This patent describes a power electric generator comprising: (a) a power shaft having a horizontal axis of rotation and a support column, the power shaft rotatably coupled to the support column for free rotation about a vertical axis; (b) spokes radially extending from the power shaft; (c) springs having first and second ends, with first ends connected to the spokes; (d) wind mill blades, each blade spaced apart from the spokes by at least one spring, the springs having second ends supporting blades and biasing blades in a first extreme position facing typical air currents for rotation of power shaft about the horizontal axis and about the vertical axis to align power shaft parallel to the direction of the air current. The springs provides a force such that storm type air currents move wind mill blades to a second extreme position parallel to the storm type air currents. The power shaft rotates about the horizontal axis causing the rotation of a main shaft of an electric generator.
