After presenting an overview of LNG technology and peakshaving and baseload operations, IGT discusses the growth of the industry to its current status and assesses the expected future trade potential. Discounting such adverse influences as political and regulatory problems and unfavorable pricing and energy policies in both importing and exporting countries, IGT predicts that 12.7 billion CF/day could be available for export as LNG in 1985: Algeria could provide 46% of this total. A breakdown of the estimate by consuming countries indicates that the US would receive about 6.8 billion CF/day (54%), Western Europe 2.2 billion (17%), and Japan 3.7 billion (29%).
